The problem we have is that there are lots of things on networks that aren’t computers in the traditional sense but have access or provide access to data either physically or logically. I was listening to a Pauldotcom security podcast (audio, video iTunes links, some occasional rough language), and two presenters on the Episode 237 podcast bring the point home.

Outlook 2007 and Exchange 2010 Server’s Archive Feature

One of the major new features of Exchange 2010 is the ability to provide an alternative to PST files to users in the form of an Archive folder which, depending on the version of Exchange server, can either be on the same server as the user mailbox, another Exchange 2010 server with less expensive storage, or as part of a cloud hosted solution.

SCCM Package Deployment and SCOM Integration

A student recently asked about SCCM package deployment and SCOM integration. The question had to do with the package option of suppressing SCOM notifications. If SCOM is suppressed, shouldn’t that fact cause alerts to be generated? The answer was somewhat surprising.
