The MAC address table contains information that enables a switch to forward a frame out the correct port to its destination so that it doesn’t have to flood the frame out all ports. To accomplish this, the MAC address table will store MAC addresses, the ports on the switch out which the MAC addresses are reachable, and the VLAN associated with that port and MAC address.
